Why do frame prices vary so much? In an attempt to simplify this complex question, we may simply say that frame prices are determined by :
quality and design
Generally when quality is higher so is the price. As the design becomes more unique we often see a rise in pricing.
Higher quality frames have some noteworthy features. These include smoothness of joints and welds and a more finished look. These frames are far more durable and usually require less service because they hold their adjustment better. They are more comfortable and also look better. Subtle detailing is more evident. Better grades of materials such as stainless steel, cobalt, and titanium are often used. Gold finish tends to be thicker and longer lasting.
The second aspect of frame cost is related to design. Broad market designs are created to appeal to a larger group and are usually very reasonable in price. More unique designs are created to appeal to a select market and are at times created in limited productions and often carry a higher price.
Because a frame is generally priced in relation to it's value, Linder Opticians can assist you in choosing the correct frame to match your budget and taste.
